Yes you should have it enabled and students can then choose if they want to turn them on for themselves.

Can participants change subtitle settings in a recorded Zoom lecture? If I record my lecture with subtitle on, can a student who finds it distracting shut it down for themselves?

you are better off just enabling the function but not showing it on your screen. The recording will have it anyway without you doing anything

What's the best way to share the recording? Share the link or upload the video on Canvas?

If you create the Zoom meetings in Canvas then the recording will automatically be shared in the same area

If not on canvas you can simply share the link within an email

Sorry, I thought that the chat transcript is the same one that saves to our computers. The one that saves to our computers shows private messages as well.

No, everyone's personal chat is all that is saved along with the chat to everyone if you save it yourself. from the recording it is just Everyone chat

So to be clear: The 'chat file' I see on the screen with the recordings, is not the same one as is saved onto my computer when a session ends?I ask because after the Welcome Back session, it was suggested that we post the chat log so students can see the Q&A. But it was found that private messages between individuals was in the host's chat log.

You can share the saved whiteboards in the main room, they will be saved as an image in their Zoom folder with the date and time

can you see the green button at the top when someone is sharing? there id a menu dropdown where the annotation tools are?
