Zoom: The Basics for Teaching - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
b for me
D for me
Y, Teams, Adobe acrobat
Yes - teams, ringcentral, skype for business
You could put on the first slide of your presentation "press record now"
That's a very good idea!
for teaching, is Canvas fine or should use zoom registration?
If you set up through Canvas it may well be more straightforward for students as everything is in one place. You should have the same options for registration when accessing zoom in this way
do we need to set zoom up on desktop and app or just desktop?
You get better functionality if you use the app. than the basic web version of zoom. Does that answer the question Donna?
yeah makes more sense how and where do I download he app to? I know this may be a silly question
Not at all. Start with https://staff.swansea.ac.uk/it-services/zoom/
There's plenty of useful advice here on opening and using the app
my computer gets very hot with the video on!
Oh dear! One to watch
one of my students asked if Zoom meetings scheduled in Canvas will automatically update the calendar on their smart phone….? (I assume they are using iCal or whatever microsoft equivalent is).
If sharing screen involves sharing a video, there's some knack to getting the audio right - please can you advise? Some people have tried and failed in sessions I've been in. Some know the knack!
Miranda - That's a good question! I'm not too sure but will check if Rhian knows. It may be a question for Canvas help/WVN
David - There is a checkbox to optimise audio and video when you initiate a share. I'll ask Rhian to explain
i seem to have probs with my audio i can hear people but thy cant here me can i try while were on?
good tips thanks!
Hi Donna you have the sound muted
Donna - would you like to stay behind at the end and try with myself and Rhian?
Great. Just hang on rather than leaving the meeting
