Zoom Advanced - Shared screen with speaker view
can start meeting at same time when all participants arrive
make sure only those who should be there are allowed entry
Ensuring all participant are ready before introducing something
Allow host time to prepare their slides/material etc
prep time ahead of recording
set expectations for session
if host has to leave for emergency, people can wait ...
then disable waiting room
Just be aware that your Waiting Room customisation applies to all sessions you've organised, so you may need to go in and change it or ensure its generic enough that you don't need to change it.
how do you disable the waiting room?
Click the Security button at the bottom (you see it as the host) and you can then disable it.
thank you :)
We'll be recording and it'll be on our website now, not Bb: https://salt.swan.ac.uk/maintaining-lt-continuity/
Is there a way that the transcript option can show on a live zoom or just the recording?
I ask as we have some students that can only communicate via BSL entering Uni this year.
You would have to assign someone to be your closed captioner live as you speak @Rebecca. Otherwise, its on the recording.
if setting up the zoom meeting/lecture in canvas and then adding to the module pages, will the password need to be disabled or will it automatically be available to all course students?
Remind me to go back to the captioner issue @Rebecca
@Jeff - when you set up via Canvas, students will automatically be able to access the recording if you've enabled it, so password should not be an issue. Its for sharing outside a closed system.
Sorry that was specifically for @Spencer not @Jeff!
Device variations (and bandwidth issues) are really important for you to be aware of for your participants as their views will vary e.g. Mav versus Android, phone versus desk-top
are the breakout rooms recorded in any way? I would guess/hope not
You have 5 minutes to discover what you are able to do in a Breakout Room1. Remember what room you are in2. Test anything you can3. Nominate one person to share your findingsYou have 5 minutes to discover what you are able to do in a Breakout Room1. Remember what room you are in2. Test anything you can3. Which breakout rooms were you in? Breakout rooms are identified from the top left white bar, just like your current view which should have "Zoom meeting". The host can also open the breakout toom icon at the bottom bar to prompt.
Sorry, it seems that my internet connection doesn't work fine today
That's OK - Recording and slides available on the SALT website
Can the meeting chat be saved - if numbers or interesting links are put in the chat?
Yes - if its recorded it will be, but as participant you can click on the 3 dots to the right and save chat, and do it at any time during the meeting.
