Centenary history book launch: historian Sam Blaxland in conversation with Owen Sheers | Lansio llyfr hanes y Canmlwyddiant: sgwrs rhwng yr hanesydd Sam Blaxland ac Owen Sheers
In this special online event to mark Swansea University’s centenary, Professor in Creativity at Swansea University, Owen Sheers, is joined by historian Dr Sam Blaxland to discuss his book ‘Swansea University: Campus and Community in a Post-War World, 1945 – 2020’. The book, written to mark the University’s centenary is both a study of the institution, and a broader social history of post-war Britain. It focuses on particular themes like the development of youth culture, and the rise of protest movements. Sheers and Blaxland will discuss the challenges or writing a history like this, and the extensive oral history project that was part of its research.

After the conversation they will be answering any questions you may have.

Yn y digwyddiad ar-lein arbennig hwn i nodi canmlwyddiant Prifysgol Abertawe, mae'r hanesydd Dr Sam Blaxland yn ymuno ag Owen Sheers, Athro mewn Creadigrwydd ym Mhrifysgol Abertawe, i drafod ei lyfr '‘Swansea University: Campus and Community in a Post-War World, 1945 – 2020’. Mae'r llyfr, a ysgrifennwyd i nodi canmlwyddiant y Brifysgol, yn astudiaeth o'r sefydliad, ac yn hanes cymdeithasol ehangach Prydain ar ôl y rhyfel. Mae'n canolbwyntio ar themâu penodol fel datblygu diwylliant ieuenctid, a chynnydd symudiadau protest. Bydd y ddau yn trafod yr heriau wrth ysgrifennu hanes fel hyn, a'r prosiect hanes llafar helaeth a oedd yn rhan o'i ymchwil.

Ar ôl y sgwrs byddant yn ateb unrhyw gwestiynau sydd gennych.
